The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Ghosts and Hauntings, by Tom Ogden.
Rating:

- Nicely summarizes the basics.
- Details and locations can be very wrong.
- Okay for beginners, less useful for experienced ghost hunters.
This book has earned some horrible reviews for inaccurate details. However, I’ve yet to find a book that gives a more complete overview of ghost hunting.
If you want a crash course in ghosts, this is a good place to start. Skim the book, learn the terminology, and read the parts that really interest you. It’ll give you the general idea of how ghost hunting really works.
Don’t take this book seriously. Don’t rely on his location details. But, to get a quick education in ghost hunting, this is a fine book for beginners.
